Like many others, this Sunday my family and I will host a small gathering for the Super Bowl. Having neither of our favored teams (Ravens and Patriots) in this game, we have chosen a team by default, the Cardinals.
Of course, not everyone I know is rooting for the Cardinals. Some of my friends and family members have deemed the Steelers as the team that should win this game. So, out of respect for their thoughts (no matter how much I disagree), I have created a couple Pittsburgh drinks.
As I never have been to that city, I didn’t attempt to make drinks that are regional. Rather, I used the team colors of black and gold as my basis. Neither of these drinks are fancy, but with different tastes one or the other should appeal to a variety of partakers.
The first drink is a twist on diet cola with vanilla flavor. Adding a little almond liqueur offers sweetness and some extra flavor. The second drink is your basic rum and cola but using spiced rum, as that is gold in color. Choose the drink that matches your flavor preference.
Pittsburgh Possibility 1
1-1/2 oz. almond liqueur
diet cola
ice
Place 3-4 ice cubes in a highball glass, and add almond liqueur. Fill glass with diet cola, and stir.
Pittsburgh Possibility 2
1-1/2 oz. spiced rum
cola
ice
Place 3-4 ice cubes in a highball glass, and add rum. Fill with rum, and stir.
