Bottle/Tap: Can
On a recent trip to Portland, Maine, with friends I came across an interesting line of beers in cans. My attitude toward can beer has changed over the past few months and with the intriguing labels I decided to pick up a six pack of this stout. Anything with a dancing cow on the label has to be a sign of taste, right? It is good to have sense of humor with your beer and the folks at Butternuts have an ale called Pork Slap with two pigs chest bumping.

Vampyre Vodka: A Smooth Vodka That Won’t Suck You Dry
by Jason Lightner on January 25th, 2011 | Liquor
I'm perusing the aisle of my local liquor haunt, looking for something eye-catching to sink my teeth into. I've been there for maybe twenty minutes, looking over the glossy bottles, reading the labels, when suddenly this one catches my eye. Vampyre Vodka is a typical vodka with a gothic gimmick. It comes in both clear and a blood-red version, which are identical in taste. The label spouts nonsense about creatures of the night and what an alluring drink this is. I'm not buying into it, so I grab a bottle of the red stuff and take it home.

Bottle/Tap: Bottle
A while back I had reviewed some beers by the folks at Kona Brewing. They had put out a wheat beer I enjoyed and lager that wasn’t bad either. I found a stray bottle of this porter at a local store and thought to give it a try. It is winter and I’m always up for a beer that is made with coffee. There was a taste of coffee to this brew but not a whole lot else was happening.
Maybe I should have let this beer chill for longer before I opened it and started to

Looking for a Juicy Red, Puglia Delivers
by Maria Glade on January 21st, 2011 | Pressed for Thought
It is the time of year for reds rich in flavor and texture, spicy and warm to stave off winter’s chill, so we need wine that will stand up to all the intense flavors and the complex and rich ingredients. For me, there are a long list of great “winter reds,” but a favorite as of late, because of both interest level and value, is Primitivo. This is a red that hails from one of Italy’s largest wine producing regions, Puglia, and while it may not be their most age-worthy grape, it delivers a wonderful juicy and satisfying glass
