Canadian Club Reserve 10 Year: A Decade of Delicious

by Jason Lightner on March 30th, 2011 | Liquor
It's the end of March, and tonight it's a brisk 34 degrees in Baltimore (which is friggin' stupid) and that calls for only one thing: whisky.

I was recently sent two bottles of spirits by a nice woman on behalf of Cruzan Rum, one of which I will be reviewing tonight. To make sure the mood is just right for such a chilly evening, I've got the lights turned down low, I've put on some Poe and I'm ready to go.

I've never had any interest in Canadian whiskies. I like Canada for its beautiful scenery and its kind and generous

Samuel Smith’s, Oatmeal Stout

by J Frazzetta on March 28th, 2011 | Beer
Bottle/Tap: Bottle, pint +6

I’m not one for taking requests too often; however, persistence does pay off from time to time.  Samuel Smith is no stranger to my beer habits, and I have not done a proper review of this beer before.  Next to their Taddy Porter many people will often reach for a bottle of the Oatmeal Stout on a chilly winter evening.  I could have sworn spring was going to arrive up in New Hampshire and instead we were graced with more snow; the mood was right and the weather was cold for a classic stout.

Moët & Chandon Impérial

by Michele on March 25th, 2011 | Sparkling Wine, Wine
Monday was an extra festive Tapas Monday at our house, as it was my husband's 40th birthday.  While we celebrated it with a fabulous 3-course menu, it was only one part of his birthday festivities.  On Sunday, we had celebrated with presents and a birthday dessert of frozen key lime pie.  This weekend the celebration will continue with a birthday getaway that includes great food, beverages, and entertainment.

On Mondays, we typically enjoy a bottle of sparkling wine with our tapas menu.  As this Monday was special, we wanted a bottle of something that was a little more special

The Bluecoat Dirty Gin Martini: Pretty Good!

by Jason Lightner on March 23rd, 2011 | Liquor
Ah, the martini... An iconic drink popularized by the ease of bootleg gin production during Prohibition and made even more popular as the signature drink of James Bond. He got it wrong, however, with the "shaken and not stirred" bit. The perfect way to prepare a martini is with a small dash of SHUT THE HELL UP AND ENJOY YOUR DRINK!

The first thing a bartender will do if you order your martini with that line is roll their eyes and then proceed to make it however he or she wants to make it because unless you really

BrewDog, Dogma

by J Frazzetta on March 21st, 2011 | Beer
Bottle/Tap: Bottle, pint +6

When it comes to ‘extreme’ beers, the BrewDog folks know no bounds.  They strive to make some tough craft beers either by alcohol content or just ingredients and my hat is off to them.  This beer here should not be an exception. I was nervous at first, but after a few sips I found that I really enjoyed this brew.

The bottle states that this beer is made with honey, kola nut, poppy seed and guarana.  Seeing that list of ingredients piqued my interest enough that I had to give this beer a try.  Our local
