Today's subject is a dicey one for a lot of people, and for understandable reasons. For one, eggnog's a punchline more often than an actual holiday drink -- countless Christmas-themed movies and television shows use it as a shorthand for getting too drunk at a holiday party (which portrays it as a ridiculous drink and stigmatizes it for teetotalers and novice drinkers.) For another, there's the raw egg, which many people find disgusting, and even a little scary. (Eggs have salmonella, right?)
I can't help with eggnog's reputation, but I can give you a few words of comfort regarding egg.

Liar’s Dice 2004 Zinfandel
by Shannon Cyr on November 29th, 2011 | California Wine, Red Wine, Wine
Wine Category: Red
Type of Wine: Zinfandel
Producer: Murphy-Goode
Wine Name: Liar’s Dice
Vintage: 2004
Region: Sonoma, California
Alcohol: 14.5%
Packaging: 750 ml bottle, natural cork
Average Price per Bottle: $20.00
Growing up in California, I thought that everyone knew that Zinfandel was a red wine. Zinfandel is probably the most symbolic grape of California wine making since it’s planted in over ten percent of all California vineyards.
It wasn’t until I moved to New England that I discovered when most people hear “Zinfandel” they think of a sweet, rose wine.

Belfast Bay Brewing Co., McGovern’s Oatmeal Stout
by J Frazzetta on November 28th, 2011 | Beer
Bottle/Tap: Bottle
After a long day of seeing family, eating and then eating some more it was about time to wind down from another successful Thanksgiving. You may have read that there are wise choices for after dinner drinks to ease your stomach. Instead of following those directions (because Grappa is pretty terrible, let me just say) I decided to pay dues to a beer that I had tried once but never given my full attention to. Based on a recommendation from a colleague, I wanted to give this oatmeal stout another chance.
The beer had spent all day

Vintage: 2007
Region: Sonoma, California
Alcohol: 14.5%

Ravenswood is one my personal favorite producers of Zinfandel wine. The winery has been making Zinfandel for over 35 years, and is dedicated to mastering the art of creating a great Zinfandel. I usually drink their Zinfandel from the Lodi appellation, but this weekend I decided to try something a little different – the 2007 Old Vine Sonoma County Zinfandel.
