Bottle/Tap: Bottle
To mix it up a bit, I’m going to throw in a lighter beer to make us all wish it were 80 degrees and sunny outside. I found this at one of my usual spots and thought I would give it a try. Plus, I get tired of drinking dark beers in winter; you need to change it up after a while.
This is a hefeweizen by nature; it is brewed with lemon peel to give it a bit of a sweet flavor. According to the label the lemons come from California. I’m not sure if that is supposed to help with the flavor or impress us. Either way it still tasted fine to me. You could tell me that you scoured the earth for some fancy ingredient, or that you went to a supermarket and bought a crate of it, I’ll still treat your beer the same.
The beer had a nice hazy look in a glass, and it tasted very smooth. I kept in the fridge a bit to get it cold. I like drinking hefeweizens, or any wheat beer for that matter, cold; it helps with the flavor. With the lemon taste already present I didn’t have to worry about adding any citrus of my own. Overall it was a pleasant experience that made me wish for sunshine.
I think this was a bad joke on Sam Adams’ part, releasing a summer beer in early fall and letting it run until Thanksgiving. I do hope they bring it back next summer. I’d like to drink this by a lake and see how it fares. If you want to snap out of the cold of winter, try looking for any remaining bottles of this brew. You may be able to break the winter freeze.

The bottle looks appealing, but for me I am not a beer fun. My dad would appreciate it because of the lemon peel. He loves anything to do with lemon.
Please don’t tell me this is a seasonal beer. It is so refreshing. Live on the west coast and this would be great for any season. The ladies like a light beer and this really fills the bill. It is great!! Will ask our local person to find it for us.
I think it is a seasonal brew, which is a shame if you ask me. I do hope that it comes out early next summer.
@Nrutt – I wasn’t always a beer guy, but after I found out that not all beer tastes the same I really enjoyed more beers than I thought. There is something for everyone just don’t be afraid to try anything.
