Bottle/Tap: Tap, this time.

Every once in a while I enter Strangebrew, and I’m greeted by an old friend. This particular time it happened to be Sam Adams’ Chocolate Bock. Come on, did you think I had real friends? Don’t answer that.
This was a reunion of sorts for Chocolate Bock and me. You see, the last, and first, time we met was the winter of 2004. In fact, the occasion was so momentous my buddy Jeff wrote and performed a song about Chocolate Bock. Truth be told, I tangoed with Johnnie Walker and remember very little of the song, but that is neither here
nor on the rug.
Since this is such a rare offering, it was served in a 10 ounce glass for $3 on $2 Tuesday. Usually that distinction is reserved for Belgium ales and specialty beers, and this one is special.
This beer is dark, wicked daahk guy, and smooth. You do have a smoky chocolate scent that emanates from the glass. Now, you may recall the Trout River I reviewed some time ago, this tasted much better. The chocolate flavor wasn’t overpowering and was delicious. There was a slightly bitter flavor, but that is expected from this kind of beer.
Coming across this beer made my week. If you find the bottle, it looks like a champagne bottle with a large silver seal on it. Trust me you can’t mistake it, and you’ll want to keep the bottle as a memory. If you can’t find it at a store, try getting to Strangebrew as soon as you can. Chances are this is a very limited release, so grab it before it leaves for another four years.
