Well, I didn’t get the beer shed that I was hoping for, but I did get a Mr. Beer kit that I’ve already put to use. I’ve been writing about beer for quite some time, I should at least try to make my own and see how it turns out. I mean, I’ve tried plenty of beer, making it should complete the cycle.
I used the initial pack that came with the kit, a pale ale, and now I’ve got about a month to wait before I actually can taste it. So far I’ve mixed all the components, and now it has to sit in the plastic keg for a little over a week before I bottle. After that, we have to wait another two weeks to drink it; the anticipation is killing me.
I’ve been on many beer tours and read about brewing, it wasn’t until I was mixing on the stove that some of what those people were saying made sense. You understand what wort is, why you need yeast and that being patient will pay off at some point. I promise to keep you all updated as the process continues. I will be excited to experiment as time goes on and I get a grip on what I’m doing, I’m interested in making a porter at some point.
Seeing this is my last post before the new decade, I wanted to wish you all well and remind you to enjoy your home brew with responsibility. Don’t forget that if you have any interesting beer you think I should try, please let me know, and I’ll look for it. I’ll try anything once, and only once. Until we meet again in 2010, take it easy, kids.

Thanks a lot, I may have to venture over that way if I have questions about brewing or anything. I appreciate you checking out the blog.
Stay away from plastics, its all about the glass and stainless steel. Plastics are evil! :- ) Good luck!
@ray For now all I have is plastic, but I’m working on gathering some glass bottles or stainless if I can find any. Thanks for the tip.
PLASTIC’S VS. GLASS AND STAINLESS?
THE PLASTIC WORKS FINE!! BUT I DID WANT MY ALES, BEER, AND CIDERS BOTTLED IN GLASS AND SO FAR THAT IS WHAT I’VE DONE. MOST FRIENDS HAVE CONGRATULATED ME. I FIGURE THE OTHERS JUST CAN’T HANDLE REAL BEERS !!! COOKING: RECOMMENDED STAINLESS, BUT I INVESTIGATED A BIT AND FOUND THAT YOU COULD USE A PORCELAIN COVERED PAN OR POT AS LONG AS THE PORCELAIN WASN’T CHIPPED, WHERE AS, IT WAS RUSTING ON THAT SPOT AND LETTING CONTAMINATION GET TO YOUR WORT.I’M COOKING WITH A 28 QT. CANNING JAR POT AND EVERY THING BEEN FINE. IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE BEST GET THE BEST, OTHERWISE,PLASTIC MAKES A GREAT FERMENTER!!
@Rick, thanks for the suggestions. i’m still trying all of this out and i appreciate all the help i can get. i figure once i’ve done this a few times i’ll have a better idea of what works and what does not. there is a lot of trial and error involved and i just want to try a few things to see what works and what tastes awful. thank you again.
