@Rick, thanks for the suggestions. i’m still trying all of this out and i appreciate all the help i can get. i figure once i’ve done this a few times i’ll have a better idea of what works and what does not. there is a lot of trial and error involved and i just want to try a few things to see what works and what tastes awful. thank you again.

PLASTIC’S VS. GLASS AND STAINLESS?
THE PLASTIC WORKS FINE!! BUT I DID WANT MY ALES, BEER, AND CIDERS BOTTLED IN GLASS AND SO FAR THAT IS WHAT I’VE DONE. MOST FRIENDS HAVE CONGRATULATED ME. I FIGURE THE OTHERS JUST CAN’T HANDLE REAL BEERS !!! COOKING: RECOMMENDED STAINLESS, BUT I INVESTIGATED A BIT AND FOUND THAT YOU COULD USE A PORCELAIN COVERED PAN OR POT AS LONG AS THE PORCELAIN WASN’T CHIPPED, WHERE AS, IT WAS RUSTING ON THAT SPOT AND LETTING CONTAMINATION GET TO YOUR WORT.I’M COOKING WITH A 28 QT. CANNING JAR POT AND EVERY THING BEEN FINE. IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE BEST GET THE BEST, OTHERWISE,PLASTIC MAKES A GREAT FERMENTER!!

@ray For now all I have is plastic, but I’m working on gathering some glass bottles or stainless if I can find any. Thanks for the tip.

Stay away from plastics, its all about the glass and stainless steel. Plastics are evil! :- ) Good luck!
