Almond Joy Martini

by Jared on August 26th, 2010
Hi, everyone! I hope you have been enjoying a few of the recipes I have offered over the past few months and have had an opportunity to make a few of these cocktails for friends and family. (Kids? Ha Ha!) Here is a fun martini, that makes a wonderful nightcap after a nice dinner. The Almond Joy Martini has become a bit of a staple at fine eateries in North America and is a fantastic offering served as an after dinner martini or as a smaller aperitif size portion that will extend the pleasure of a fun night out and also...

Michael Neff, Ward III

by Michele on August 20th, 2010
One of the things that I love about going to a restaurant that has a great bartender is the creativity she may have.  If I have a certain flavor in mind but don't see anything that matches it on the menu, I quite frequently ask the bartender to create something in that vein.  For about 90% of the time, it has been a positive experience.  Recently, I was introduced to a bar that has built part of their menu off of a concept that is perfect for my drink ordering. For myself, I forego the sweetness of the orange liquer and substitute the Triple...

Peach Passion Paradise

by Michele on July 30th, 2010
Our Crafty Bartender, Jared, has been busy lately.  Not only has he been creating some fabulous cocktail recipes for Parched No More, he also has been managing the Iron Bartender competition.  For three consecutive Mondays, contestants attempted to make the best cocktail, choosing from a selection of spirits, mixers, and juices.  In addition, that evening's secret ingredient had to become part of the recipe.  The finished creations were judged on their creativity, taste, and appearance. This past Monday, the three highest scoring contestants were invited for the Iron Bartender finals.  Unfortunately, one of the contestants was unable to attend, and it...

The Antioxinator

by Jared on July 16th, 2010
Hi, everyone. Hope you're enjoying your summer and have made time to cherish this beautiful weather with good food and drink.  Here in New England we have had one of the hottest Julys in the last quarter century! And with warm weather comes nice juicy fruit and vegetables. What has made this year unlike many years past has been the simple fact that the extremely hot weather has made many of our crops ripe at the same time.  This includes strawberries, blueberries, cherries, raspberries and peaches. Since I can remember, I have loved blueberries above all fruit. When picked at their...
