Pomchi Smash

Friday, May 28th, 2010
It's after 5:00 pm on a Friday afternoon that is the start of a 3-day weekend.  Well, sort of a 3-day weekend.  I am sure there will be some work on Monday, but it won't be a full workday.  So, as far as I am concerned, it is a 3-day weekend. Having stated that, I will confess that knowing I had one project to complete before starting my weekend, I was seeking the easiest way to complete that project.  Luckily for me (and you, the reader), the easiest way also happens to be tasty and fun. The remaining project was creating and...

Lavender Sapphire Collins

Friday, May 21st, 2010
At Parched No More, we are fans of infused beverages.  We typically have a few infused vodkas and at least one infused rum in our liquor cabinet.  In fact, we like the taste so much that we have done some infusing at home with decent results. Visiting local restaurants and reading trade journals, I have discovered that besides the infusion of fruits, sweets, and vegetables into liquors, there is another ingredient that has gained popularity with the cocktail crowd: edible flowers.  Whether they are added via muddling, infusing, or garnishing, flowers are appearing on many cocktail menus and in recipe books. There...

Fiery Fiesta Margarita

Friday, May 14th, 2010
Yes, Cinco de Mayo has come and gone.  However, that doesn't mean that you can't allow the enjoyment of margaritas to continue, especially if you spent May 5th at a minor league baseball game and the most exciting beverage you had was hot coffee.  Seriously, once the sun set, it became quite chilly, and this fan was quite happy that there was piping hot coffee available to warm her! Normally I am not a huge fan of frozen drinks; they're simply too filling.  However, on a warm weekend afternoon, they make the perfect indulgence.  What could be a better way to...

Sparkling Lemonade

Monday, May 3rd, 2010
When my husband and I get together with our friends, OT and Vicki, we typically enjoy a round of cocktails.  We have an assortment of tried and true recipes on which we can rely, such as Swamp Water and sidecars (for the guys).  However, all of us also enjoy trying new combinations and recipes. Vicki and I have found that we enjoy cocktails made with Prosecco or sparkling wine.  Having tried different liqueurs, raspberry liqueur has been our favorite.  Other liqueurs, which seemed like they would work well, haven't been as enjoyable, such as melon liqueur. This weekend seemed like a good...

Spring Cucumber Martini

Friday, April 16th, 2010
My husband and I have our own preferences when making or ordering cocktails.  I prefer my drinks to be light and fruity.  He likes drinks that either are classics, like a dry martini, or savory, such as a dirty martini.  When I saw this recipe for a cucumber martini, I knew it would be a hit with him.  Between the simplicity of a vodka martini and the infusion of mint and cucumber, it practically was a drink created for him. I am pleased to thank Chef Patricia Williams (of Smoke Jazz & Supper Club) for sharing this recipe with...
