Ladies, Drink Your Wine & Stay Skinny!

Now women have even more reason to enjoy that glass of Merlot or favorite Chablis with their dinner. It can help keep them skinny! The NYDailyNews.com shares the news of a study from the Archives of Internal Medicine. The study included 19,220 women who were 38 years of age or older. All were followed for 12.9 years on average. In this study, 41.3% of the women did become either overweight or obese, but the women who did drink gained approximately 3.5 lbs as compared to the non-drinking women who gained 8 lbs.

The study was conducted at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Apparently, wine seems to be the ideal choice for women to drink. Beer or hard liquor don’t work as well.

According to the Daily Mail (where the study was reported originally), one theory being considered is that the liver turns the alcohol consumed into “heat” and not fat. That extra calories from a glass of wine winds up getting burned off. However, a cupcake or other snack might be stored in a different way.

Drinking wine in excessive amounts certainly shouldn’t be considered a diet by anyone. However, this study is promising for any fellow wine lover. Wine consumed in moderation could be a way to help keep your girlish figure.

It is great to know you can enjoy your favorite indulgence of a glass of Merlot at the end of the day, while still wearing your best skinny jeans.
