Bottle/Tap: Bottle

When it comes to pilsners, there are people who will have you believe that since their beer was spiked with hops three times, you’ll have a refreshing taste.  So refreshing in fact, you’ll wonder how someone could sell you beer-flavored water.  Here is a better way to spend your money: buy a real pilsner.  Pilsner style beers are great for summer since they are usually light bodied and not very complex.  I picked up a six of this one and found it to be very refreshing.

I didn’t notice any overpowering aromas at first but did find a little bite as I drank.  I really liked how the beer was simple and easy to enjoy.  To give a better assessment, I let it hit room temperature and found it to be enjoyable still.  Now, I’m not suggesting that you drink this beer warm, chill it first and have it reach room temperature gradually.

I opened another bottle and decided to see how a lemon slice would fair.  I’m happy to report that some lemon helped smooth out the beer and the lemon gave it a good flavor.  I was almost going to try an orange, but I thought better of it.  The tart of the lemon seems to counter-act all of the bitter in your beer and it almost tastes sweet.  Oranges are always sweet and I find they take a lot away from a beer.

This was a beer that could be enjoyed on a warm Saturday night.  If you’ve kept it cold, crack one open and sip it while it reaches room temperature — maybe listen to a baseball game.  I’ve been to places where they put blueberries or watermelon slices in a pilsner.
