Married to a Baltimore native but living in New England, the amount of Ravens games that we can watch are limited. So, when the Ravens had a Monday night game a few weeks ago, I decided to create a fun dinner to accompany the game. Serving raven didn’t seem like a good idea, thus I opted to create a purple dinner menu. Included in the menu were eggplant salsa and wine poached pears. Both of those dishes were delicious and purple.
The next thing I needed to do was create a purple cocktail. It would have been simple if we had Chambord, but unfortunately we didn’t. Rather than taking a trip to the liquor store, I decided to use basic art lessons to create a plum-hued beverage. Unfortunately, I learned that combining blue and red liquids does not necessarily create a purple liquid.
Regardless to the color, my drink mixing did provide a tasty cocktail. Tasting of orange and cranberry it was refreshing. Adding some seltzer to the drink helped to lighten the drink, as both curacao and cranberry juice can make the beverage feel a little syrupy.
I guess if we were keeping score, we had 3 wins and 1 loss, which isn’t too bad. Two tasty purple dishes and a win for the Ravens outweighed the drink that didn’t match the theme.
Should’ve Been Purple Cocktail

3 oz. blue curacao
7-1/2 oz. cranberry juice
seltzer
Fill a martini shaker with ice, and add vodka, curacao, and juice. Shake well. Divide between ice-filled highball glass. Top each glass with seltzer.
