My husband and I have become amateur bartenders. Both of us like to create cocktails, though we each have our own methods. For me, I try to create a theme for the dinner and drinks, so they coordinate. I also strive to make my drinks light and not too sweet. My husband takes more of a spontaneous approach. Fuzzy French Kiss

Anyone that knows me understands that I have no love lost on the French. But that doesn't mean they don't contribute mightily to the libations that I often consume. Be it a great French Bordeaux or a wonderful cognac, the French are crafters of fine consumables.
It is cognac that inspired my latest concoction, the Fuzzy French Kiss.
Fuzzy French Kiss
Fill a martini shaker with ice, and add cognac and almond liqueur. Shake vigorously. Pour over more ice into a lowball glass. Add seltzer, and

- 1 part cognac (I used a VSOP Hennessey since it was being mixed)
- 1 part almond liqueur
- 2 parts seltzer
- ice

Like many others, this Sunday my family and I will host a small gathering for the Super Bowl. Having neither of our favored teams (Ravens and Patriots) in this game, we have chosen a team by default, the Cardinals.
Of course, not everyone I know is rooting for the Cardinals. Some of my friends and family members have deemed the Steelers as the team that should win this game. So, out of respect for their thoughts (no matter how much I disagree), I have created a couple Pittsburgh drinks.

Today marks the twentieth day of winter in the northern hemisphere. However, in New Hampshire it seems like we already have had a winter's worth of snow and ice. Between this chilly precipitation, cold temperatures, and biting winds, winter has made its presence known.
To cope with winter, I sometimes try to pretend that it isn't cold and wintry by preparing tropical dishes and drinks. However, there are times when just knowing how cold it is outside gives me the goosebumps. And on a night such as that, a cold drink is not going to work.
