Is there a way to keep an open bottle of sparkling wine from losing its carbonation? I enjoy cocktails that have a float of sparkling wine but am left with a bottle that is more than half full when I make cocktails for just my husband and me. Currently, I only make these drinks when we entertain a larger group, as I am more likely to use the entire bottle.
This is a problem that's beguiled bartenders ever since people started mixing cocktails, and while there have been attempts at solutions, none of them are perfect. You can buy any

I disparage vodka a bit too easily, and I shouldn't. It's true that the spirit doesn't have a lot of complexity to it (at least, it won't if it's made well.) But it's got its place. As a shot, either neat or chilled, it can be clean and bracing, and vodka is, admittedly, about the simplest and purest form of alcohol you can get. There's a certain basic precision to it ... and I'm not advocating any sort of overindulgence (at least, not in print), but if you're looking for a bit of a pleasant buzz, or a

The problem with champagne is that you just can't get value without paying for it. On Sunday, we had celebrated with presents and a birthday dessert of frozen key lime pie. This weekend the celebration will continue with a birthday getaway that includes great food, beverages, and entertainment.
On Mondays, we typically enjoy a bottle of sparkling wine with our tapas menu. As this Monday was special, we wanted a bottle of something that was a little more special

Several weeks ago, I came across this beer in a supermarket and decided to pick it up. The price tag was a little much, almost $20, yet the allure of the bottle is what really drew toward this beer. Something about that champagne bottle look that just screamed: buy me! I waited a bit then decided to pop the cork and give it a try.
There really is a cork in this bottle, you do have to open it like champagne and thankfully the contents do not taste like champagne, rather, they taste like beer. I
