Authenticity at Its Finest: Citadelle Gin

by Jason Lightner on December 8th, 2010 | Liquor
So I'm browsing my favorite liquor store's shelves, looking for something interesting to sample, when something catches my eye. A bottle of gin, adorned in silver and blue, which goes by the name of Citadelle. A product of France, this gin boasts the largest number of botanicals at a whopping 19 (as opposed to Bombay Sapphire's paltry 10). These include French juniper, violet root, coriander, almond, lemon and orange rind, angelica and cardamom, among others, making for a very flavorful experience.

The recipe, according to the official website, dates back to the 17th century under Louis XVI, way

Uncle Charlie’s Punch

by Michele on November 24th, 2010 | Cocktails, Hot Drinks
Thanksgiving always conjures certain thoughts for me:  a big turkey dinner (obviously), watching the local football game with family and friends, and a warm house to enter after the game.  Throughout my childhood we would attend the Thanksgiving game with my dad, and I always felt frozen by the time we were home.  A hot bath and a cup of cocoa were what I needed.

The Official Drink of Polo

by TK on November 23rd, 2009 | Mixed Drinks
Recently, there was a posting on Idea Offer , a Wasabi Ventures property, about what should be the official drink of the game of polo.  I always have been intrigued by the game, and it is on my things-to-do list to attend a match some day.

The answers to the idea request were wide and varied, but the three winners ended up being from Captain, LaShan Arceneaux, and Mirilee.  Of these the one that was of the most interest to me was from LaShan:

Pimms Cup is the official drink of polo. It is a

Hawaiian Fuzzy Logic

by Michele on September 11th, 2009 | Cocktails, Mixed Drinks
A few weeks ago I discovered that a Fuzzy Navel can be an enjoyable drink.  Well, at least it can be when it is served as a Fuzzy Navel 2.0.  The combination of orange and peach flavors served in a lighter style made a perfect summer evening cocktail.

Last week my husband decided to tinker with his own peach and orange drink concoction.  To change the flavor slightly he added pineapple to the list of flavors.  This produced a drink that tasted quite tropical but also had a bit of a kick to it.  Served over ice, it was refreshing
