We had the pleasure of my mom's company for a couple weeks at the end of summer. While I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her and my family, I think the best part of the trip was an evening I spent with just her. As my husband was away on business and the kids weren't home, the two of us were left to our own devices.
I had told my mom about Tapas Night dining that my husband and I enjoy on most Mondays. She always seemed interested in the dishes, so I decided that she and I would have

Fuzzy Navel 2.0
by Michele on August 28th, 2009 | Cocktails, Mixed Drinks
My best friend always has enjoyed a Fuzzy Navel as a cocktail. For me it used to be too sweet and too peachy. As life can be, some things change, and some things stay the same. For example, I now enjoy cocktails that are peach in flavor, but I still don't like drinks that are overly sweet.
After dinner last night, my husband and I thought a cocktail would be a nice way to end our workdays. Sure, I could have made something from our usual repertoire, be it a dirty martini for him or a Vodka and Tonic Restyled

Royal Peach
by TK on February 19th, 2009 | Cocktails, Mixed Drinks
My darling wife has been referred to as the "Princess of Organization", and although I am the "King of Nothing", I know that in our relationship the "Princess" trumps the "King". With all of this royal talk going around in our house, I needed to concoct a drink that was worthy of the regal state.
Royal Peach
1 part Crown Royal
1/2 part peach schnapps
splash of seltzer
ice
Fill a martini shaker with ice, and add Crown Royal and schnapps. Shake well. Pour the items over ice in a low ball glass. Add the splash of seltzer, and garnish with cherries.

Pretty and Pink with a Punch
by Michele on November 13th, 2008 | Cocktails, Martinis
Like any good drink, this recipe starts with a story. This drink is a bit like me. In high school I was a cheerleader. I am the sort of woman who screams if she runs into a snake in the backyard. I like to dress up and wear feminine clothing. However, those aren't all of the qualities that define me.
In fact, I take issue with people who make comments, such as, "You were a cheerleader!" with a laugh of disgust. Because in addition to my sport of choice in high school, there are other pieces to who I am.
