Bartenders hate mojitos. If you doubt me, order one the next time you go out, and watch carefully for the reaction. You'll get an eye roll, a cringe, a sigh... and if the bar's busy enough, she might just refuse to make it.
Mixing mojitos can be an annoying, time-consuming process, whether you're a professional bartender working a busy shift or a barbecue host mixing drinks for guests. Subtle & Bubbly Pear
by Michele on March 3rd, 2010 | Cocktails, Mixed Drinks, Sparkling
As my daughter pointed out to me today, I've had a bit of a pear fetish lately. I've made pear vinaigrette and wine poached pears and have included slices in my wraps. So, continuing on this same thread, I decided to create a pear cocktail. Instead of using a pear liqueur for flavoring, I thought I'd try my hand at making a pear-flavored simple syrup.

Creole Collins

Everyone knows Emeril Lagasse for his food. And on a recent trip to New Orleans, my wife and I went to his restaurant for dinner (Read the review at our sister publication Tasty Thoughts). While waiting at the bar for our table, I ordered a signature drink from their beverage menu, a Creole Collins.
Ingredients:
- 1 Part fresh lime juice
- 1 Part Cognac
- 1 Part spiced rum
- Splash of simple syrup
Combine all the ingredients in a martini shaker filled with ice and shake well. Serve over ice in a highball glass
