Crimson Cardinal Concoction

by Michele on January 30th, 2009 | Cocktails, Martinis
With the Super Bowl only two days away, I am in full party planning mode.  Being a thematic party planner, I am serving appetizers with a southwest feel and drinks that coordinate with the team colors.  Yesterday, I posted two drink options for those cheering for the Steelers.

Last night, after a long day of work and life in general, I began to do some experimenting for the Cardinals drink.  Basing my drinks on team colors, this drink needed to be red.  Being the drink of the team for which I am rooting, it also needs to contain my preferences

Playoff Purple

This past Sunday my husband and I made plans to watch the AFC Championship game.  My husband is a fan of Sunday football, but this game was a "must see" event, as he is a native of Baltimore.  To enjoy the festivities, we invited our best friends, Tom and Vicki, and planned a menu for the evening.

As we all enjoy a cocktail or two while watching the game, one of us usually tries to create something new for a gathering.  Being the host, I decided to create a drink for this occasion.  As a person who likes to coordinate whenever

Today marks the twentieth day of winter in the northern hemisphere.  However, in New Hampshire it seems like we already have had a winter's worth of snow and ice. Between this chilly precipitation, cold temperatures, and biting winds, winter has made its presence known.

Too Busy for Football-tini

by Michele on December 24th, 2008 | Cocktails, Martinis
In New Hampshire, this past weekend was filled with lots of wintry weather.  It started with a snowstorm that ran from mid-afternoon Friday to early Saturday morning.  As we were digging out from that storm, there was a warning of another, bigger snowstorm all day Sunday.  Pleasantly trapped at home on Friday night (and preparing for the same on Sunday) with each other's company, tasty snacking food, and holiday movies, my husband and I were ready.

However, when the opportunity was presented to leave our domicile on Saturday, we were ready to go!  As we were shopping for a few last

Sunday Blues

by Michele on November 20th, 2008 | Cocktails, Martinis
My husband is a fan of Sunday football, especially if he can watch the Ravens or Patriots play.  As we live in New England, quite often we don't get to see the Baltimore game.

This past weekend it seemed that luck was on his side.  First, the Baltimore - New York game was being aired locally.  Second, returning from a trip, he was home by 1:15 and able to see most of the game.  Third, I had created a menu of munchies and a new cocktail for the occasion.

Sadly, the game did not go very well for the Ravens, and as
